About Tru-Stone Technologies

Starrett Tru-Stone Technologies is currently seeking a Technical Sales Representative. A Tru-Stone Technical Sales Representative role requires both a big picture view and detail orientation. You must have good spatial ability, rolling design ideas around in your mind to visualize customer descriptions and see potential problems or improvements.

Starrett Tru-Stone is a specialty manufacturer of products for high-precision machine bases & assemblies, metrology bases or accessories. You will work closely with our experienced staff in engineering, purchasing, production, quality, and shipping to understand our capabilities, understand customer needs and devise solutions. Our primary industries are semiconductor equipment, manufacturing automation, vision, laser metrology and research laboratories.

You will work in our state-of-the-art, climate controlled facility located in Waite Park, Minnesota. We are in close proximity to St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Clearwater and other central Minnesota cities/towns.

We offer a sign-on bonus and annual bonus for this position. This is a salary positions. What will you do in this position?

  • Current customer relationships – provide top-notch service to customers. Learn the breadth of their business and exploit all opportunities for business with each customer. This can be done by increasing the Starrett, Tru-Stone share of their business or helping them to win new business. Increasing both sales revenue and margin with each customer is the measure of success in this area.
  • Prospecting for new business – pursue new opportunities with current customers and new prospects to grow our customer base. Find customers in relevant industries to broaden the markets we serve. New customers added are the measure of success in this area.
  • Industry / Market / Customer Knowledge – Knowledge of customers, prospects and their markets is crucial to success in maintaining current business and pursuing new opportunities. Understanding both history and trends is important.
  • Precision Measurement / Design Concepts / Granite Materials Knowledge – Knowledge of these elements is necessary to establish credibility and add value for prospects and customers.
  • Prospecting –Continually read business and industry news to find new prospects. Researching prospects and making contact by phone, email and on-site visits (as appropriate).
  • Estimating – Estimating competitive pricing through innovative design ideas and accurate JobBOSS routings. Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales colleagues to develop good estimates. Influence customers toward designs that play to our company’s strengths.
  • Project Management – Developing overall project plans as necessary for complicated projects. Monitoring progress on those plans to ensure successful, on time completion to meet customer requirements.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task, read mechanical drawings, understands tolerances and basic use of metrology and application.
  • Proven success in a technical sales or application engineering role
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Production process knowledge and routing experience
  • Knowledge of commercial business concepts
  • Knowledge of motion control or opto-mechanical systems a plus
  • Assist sales department with other duties as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
